Despite claims that he became airsick easily, Max had gotten used to traveling through the swirling portals that allowed him to travel from place to place almost instantly. He was not, however, used to falling through a portal without warning. In fact, as he landed with a thud in a patch of dirt, he was quite sure that there had not been a portal on the stairs of his house. Especially a portal that lead to...where was this anyway?
The blond haired boy climbed slowly to his feet, dusting his jeans off as he looked around. "Okay...this's weird," He turned in a full circle and for a moment removed his red baseball cap to inspect it. He waved it in front of his face as if expecting it to do something, and when it didn't, he let out a short sigh and placed it back on his head. For a kid that could travel from San Fransisco to Sydney in the blink of an eye, winding up in a place that definitely...wasn't on earth wasn't as great a shock as it could be to some.
And then Max realized something was missing- no greeting from a certain all-knowing talking chicken followed by a summary of how the world was in great danger, and he was the only one that could save it. "Virgil? Normie?" No answer. Max was a little surprised. Usually wherever he ended up, the two were waiting for him. But this time he was all alone. "Great," He muttered to himself. Alone, in a strange place, and as far as he could see, no way to contact anyone.
The boy gritted his teeth. He'd found his way out of critical situations before, usually due to an uncanny streak of luck. Of course he had no idea if there really was a 'critical' situation involved. As far as he was concerned, all he needed to do was find a portal, and hope it got him somewhere he could find his way home. The only problem was he had no idea where to start looking, and without Virgil's scroll, he couldn't discern where a portal might be.
"Need a better view," Max muttered to himself, rather quiet as there was no one else to hear it. Behind him stood a marble statue, and behind that, a small rounded alcove with remnants of another statue that he might have thought was from ancient Greece if not for the fact that he knew he wasn't in Greece. Of course, also aware that he wasn't in a museum, he doubted anyone would care if he used the statue as a stepping stone. He climbed onto the first statue, intending to stand on its shoulders to reach the higher point of the shrine. The statue however seemed to have other ideas. Before Max could fully stand on it, the old marble cracked at the neck and the boy lost his balance, tumbling forward and landing flat on the ground, the statue's head rolling slowly in front of him. ~Oww...Okay...bad idea...~ He winced and pushed himself upright again.
Before he could make another attempt at climbing he noticed the ground rumble, and quickly he scrambled back to his feet. A moment later a withered hand shot from the ground in the very spot he had fallen. Max retreated a few steps, blue eyes widening a little. A few more seconds passed and a whole creature emerged from the ground...something that looked almost human...only smelled a lot worse. "Whoa!" The boy hastened his retreat. He was used to being chased by these sorts of guys, undead controlled by Skullmaster. He was also aware that if they got too close, he could be in big trouble. Two more of the things appeared from the ground and meanwhile, Max tried to keep his distance while trying to find anything he could use as a weapon.

((Haha okay, since like, Effar's sorta pretty much quit here *sadface* She always has so much going on... -_- I'm gonna move Tony here! HE'LL HELP MAX OUT! ))
With repairs done as they could be on his suit, Tony had decided now was as good a time as ever to get his bearing on this strange place. That, and it was a good time to test out his crude repairs. It was short work to make a map of the entire city (if it could even be called that - it was quite small and lacking in even some of the most basic technologies), but what information he was able to gather was quite worrisome. A lot - and he did mean a lot - of people were here, and while most were human, almost all of them bore strange readings. Powers that his suit couldn't identify - which was really saying something.
On top of that, he was pretty sure that something else was going on. A lot of underground movement. Not to mention that explosion that rocked the southern area of the city. He was just headed over that way when Jarvis brought something else to his attention. "Sir, you should take a look at this."
From his place in the sky, Tony shifted his line of sight towards the ground, where one of the widgets in his visual uplink zoomed in on a blonde boy with a red hat, and what looked like a small group of -- "Zombies? You've got to be kidding me... Where are we? Some mild version of Silent Hill?" Tony muttered, immediately changing his course to aid the boy.
The jets in his boots were audible before the armored man was in sight. "Jarvis, gimme some info here..."
"Sir, they seem to be, for the lack of a better word, dead. I'm reading no heartbeats, nor body heat."
"Sounds good to me." Tony said, offering a little "Hey, kid." as he shot past Max, hands stretched out in front of him. A couple of repulsor blasts took care of two of them, while a third fell prey to the sheer momentum Iron Man was carrying. The zombie basically exploded into a pile of rotten flesh upon impact.
Once those were taken care of, it was a quick loop, turn, and landing for Tony to be standing next to Max, hands ready, repulsors charged - he wasn't going to let these zombies hurt any kids. Not while he could stop them. "You alright?" His voice held a robotic quality to it - normal tone masked by both the helmet and the speakers that projected his voice. "And you know, this would be a lot more fun if they just danced the Thriller..."

((Yaycompany! *flail*))
Max was quickly frustrated. He couldn't find much else lying around to use in defense other than a few random rocks. "Soo~" He raised a hand as he retreated a few steps more, and swooped down quickly to pick up a hand-sized stone. "You guys pals of ol' Bonebrain too?" Rather sure it wasn't going to do any good, he assumed a position to throw the rock at the closest zombie.
Before he threw, the boy heard an odd sound overhead, and he looked skyward in confusion. He thought for a moment the sound could have been from a small plane, but it wasn't loud enough for that. Max looked up just in time to see a flash of something big and fast and...he wasn't sure what else. All he could tell for sure was in the blink of an eye, the big guy had taken out all three of the advancing zombies, and what was left of them was reduced to a burning pile of gross-ness on the ground.
"That was awesome!" Max bolted forward excitedly to inspect the damage- obviously he was uninjured, but after a second or so he stopped, made a disgusted face, and pinched his nose with two fingers. "Hoo! Man it stinks though!" Finally he shifted his attention to the robot, er...whatever he was, that had stepped in to help. "Hey man that was really cool- thanks! I've only seen stuff like that in comics before. Not the zombies, ya know, but..." He trailed off, quickly finding an interest in Iron Man's armor. Max poked at it for a few moments, trying to figure out just what the robot-man was made out of.
It was only a few moments, however, before the pair was set on again. The ground rumbled some more, and Max spun to see where the creatures might be coming from. "Who-hey!" A hand rising from the dirt managed to clamp onto the blond's foot as he tried to jump out of the way, causing him to lose his balance. He fell, but luckily he still had the stone he'd picked up a few moments ago in hand, and quickly, he used it to smash onto the attacking appendage. "Leggo!"
The attack worked, or at least enough to separate the hand from the rest of the zombie's body. The hand, however, remained attached to Max's foot. He scrambled back to a standing position, hopping on one leg while swinging the other in hopes of getting the hand to let go. "C'mon Thing, go bother somebody else!" With a final swing the hand went flying, hitting the robotic man in the head before falling limply to the ground. "Ha! Serves you right!" The boy grinned, quite proud of his accomplishment, that is, until he noticed that a lot more zombies had suddenly made an appearance...

"Well, the suit's for more than show," Tony said, grinning behind his mask. Who knew that offing a bunch of already dead people would be so much fun? Ahh, the little things in life. "And I can't say I'm anything so fantastic as something from the comic world ((*SNERK*)), but I like to think I'm ahead of the curve at what I do..."
It was obvious the boy was interested in the armor - something Tony of course, enjoyed (the man did love attention), and answered the boy's unvoiced question, "Titanium alloy, a bit of paint, and hundreds of hours and millions of dollars. And of course, a few things I invented here and there." He tapped the glowing chestpiece of the suit and nodded. "Workin' like a dream for being a prototype."
And then a number of scanners and sensors went off in his line of vision, just before more of those gruesome undead crawled their way out of the ground on all sides. These things seemed to be coming in waves, and with more each turn. Something needed to be done about it. He was formulating a plan to go by when his helmet suddenly gave a squelching slap, with something a bit more solid hitting it enough to make his ears ring a bit. "What the--"
"Severed and rotting hand, sir," Jarvis offered in his calm, if not a bit pretentious voice. "That'll be difficult to clean off."
"You're telling me..." Tony muttered and focused his efforts mostly on the zombies closest to him. They were easy enough to zap into useless, smoking husks with his repulsors, but even then, there were a lot of them. "You know, rocks aren't going to do much against-"
"Three on your left, two on your seven o'clock," Jarvis put helpfully.
The five of them quickly went down, one of them still stumbling around without a head, and on fire. "Against these things. And they seem less inclined to do much without their heads." Tony was, quite suddenly, very grateful for the air filters in his helmet. This mess must smell AWFUL.

Anck Su Namun, Sole Ornament of the Pharaoh and music instructor to Prince Rapses, was not having a good day. Stuck inside the pyramid as she was most of the time, she really usually didn't mind getting to leave and see the town. Even if it was at night, and even if it was doing her best to hide the fact that she was... well, she was - like her fellow mummies - the living dead.
But, as per usual, Scarab had to show up, after the young prince as he always was... and the Shabti, naturally, and it was time to call forth the powers of the gods protecting each of the guardian mummies. This was the part she really hated. She was always in a sort of defensive capacity, after all... she knew defense... music and dance were her things, not fighting. One Shabti, though, managed to break past Ja-Kal and immediately Anck Su Namun was all over it, rushing to the side and grabbing her sling as...
...she suddenly nearly ran right into a little boy. "My prince, you really should stay ba--..." Pause. "You are not Prince Rapses!" The startled mummy, with her grayish-blue skin and white hair, looked around, startled, her golden armor glowing faintly in the strange light of this odd, unnatural world... and that was when she saw the zombies. Okay, sure, so she was undead too, but at least she was not gross and slimy and smelly like these things were. "EEE!"
Acting on sheer instinct, the mummy in the crocodilian armor spun, the thick prehensile tail smacking away several of the things before she whipped out her sling, resting a hand against it before she began firing off bursts of magic from the thing that, while slow, seemed highly affective for zombie killin'. "What in the name of Ra is going on here...?! Who are you people? Where am I and what is going on?!"

(Can everyone hear Jarvis, or just Tony? )
Had they not been in the situation they were currently in, Max would have been marveling over Tony's suit. After all he was quite an admirer of superheros that actually had superpowers (and not a random red cap that worked only in certain places and only offered one way trips). But regarding what they were currently facing, the boy simply made a mental note to check out the suit in depth later... provided they were still alive later.
"Uh, sorry 'bout that!" Max called as the severed hand he'd flung smacked against Tony's armor and flopped to the ground. And even then it kept moving. The boy made a face, "Ewww..."
As the superhero continued to take out the approaching creatures, Max was beginning to feel a little useless. Stupid, not-working cap. If he just knew where to find a portal he could send these things to...anywhere but here.
But for now the cap wasn't being any help. So the boy turned his attention to avoid being grabbed by the zombies, and while dodging around a pair of them he looked for something he could use to defend himself...hopefully something better than a rock. With a step to the side and a quick spin he found himself face to face with a woman who looked like she might have been with the group that was attacking them. Max's eyes widened as the lady spoke to him. "Gyaaah!"
Max jumped and stumbled back, but after a moment or so his mind processed that she had actually spoken to him. And on top of that she'd called him Prince...something or other. She seemed to realize that he wasn't who she thought he was. As she turned to face some of the creatures, Max barely managed to jump over her tail. Wait. Tail? He'd seen weirder, he mused with a shrug.
At least she had come armed with a sling shot...sorta. And a magic sling shot at that! Realization hit him and quickly Max searched his baggy pockets. He quickly located his own sling shot, but then another thought hit him. He didn't have any sort of ammunition. "Well...crud!"

((OMG I'M GONNA POST HERE TOO! And haha I already said it, but they probably can't hear Jarvis... though for humor's sake, they can probably hear Tony mumbling to him. XD))
Tony, unlike Max, ignored the body parts that were flying through the air and instead focused on making sure that these things were only body parts... Not ones working in tandem with each other. Though his helmet didn't show it, he had a tight look on his face, focusing on the readings his sensors were giving him via the suit's HUD (Head's Up Display. XD). These things definitely had no life signs (but he could have told anyone that by just looking at them.) What he WAS picking up was an odd energy signature that Jarvis couldn't define.
Nevertheless, the things seemed to fall under the repulsors, so he kept at it, felling them one after another, spraying an unwanted amount of bodyparts into the air. Cleaning the suit would be such a bother. "Sir, one of these creatures holds a different reading than the rest." Jarvis put in lightly, bringing up a little block of information to Tony's attention. "And it seems to be pushing back these other creatures."
Tony took a moment to glance over at the dead-looking woman and sent a wide-array of sweeps over her form. She was indeed made of flesh, though he registered no heartbeat. And the armor she wore was a gold-metal compound. Hm. Interesting. "Well, I knew we'd be seeing some weird things, Jarvis. Alert me if she becomes a threat." It looked like she was using magic. Heh, right. MAGIC. But whatever it was she was using, it was working. "Keep at it you two." he said, the armor projecting his voice.
Between the mummy and Iron Man's own weaponry, they'd pushed back most of the zombies. While there were more pushing forward, it gave them a minute or so to take a breath and try to figure things out. "From what I can tell," Tony said, looking at both of the younger children with him, "Remove the head, they'll usually fall." He spotted the slingshot in Max's hand. And the shrine that Pepper had told him not to bother. Well, desperate times...
Raising a hand, he locked on the old stone structure and sent a repulsor blast at it. A decent chunk of the thing shattered, leaving quite a bit of fodder for Max's slingshot. "Remember, in the head. And from what I can tell," he paused, pulling up the readings Jarvis had been doing. "There aren't too many more underground. It doesn't look like these things are endless after all."
