A strange town surrounded by four gigantic white marble walls, and covered by a cloudy, rose-tinted sky. The landscape and buildings are well-cared for, and food and supplies are plentiful. But the only inhabitants are people of a variety of other worlds. It seems everyone residing in Elysian City simply appeared there at random.

No one knows how they ended up here, but everyone knows there is no way to leave. The gates refuse to open to even the strongest muscle or magic, and the walls do not seem to end. What could be going on in this city? It seems that only time will tell.

Welcome to Elysian City...enjoy your stay.

 Now that's more like it.

Terry, seeing that Zoe seemed more or less alright (she might have been an irritating little sibling of sorts, but that didn't mean he didn't care about her), and armed, at least more than she was, he decided it was time to get going on things. Bruce had given them an assignment, and boring as it was, it was SOMETHING to do. The elderly man who had for many, many years donned the mask that Terry was now wearing seemed worried. He hid it well, but when Bruce worried, Terry knew it was bad. And, knowing that, he'd do everything in his power to put things right.

And so, they walked down the path, Terry audibly complaining about wanting the Batmobile, or finding Zoe's suit so they could at least both fly around. In short, it wasn't exactly the idea of The Batman that most people got. That, and they STILL hadn't run into anyone - Doctor or not.

That situation, however, was going to change.

Not too far from the building they'd just left, Terry spotted what he initially thought was one of the Jokerz. Immediately shutting up and putting a hand up for Zoe to do the same, the black-clad hero narrowed his eyes, pulling both himself and Zoe behind a wide tree. Peeking around the side, he tried to get a better look at what he'd just seen. There were in fact two men, but they weren't Jokerz. The masks they wore were what had initially startled Terry. They were clown masks, but the men were wearing suits, and looked older than the teenagers that seemed to populate the gang that ran the streets in Terry's world.

"Stay here, Zoe..." Terry warned, flicking his wrist, where a baterang ((haha how do you spell that?)) unfolded in his hand. After a deep breath, The Batman stepped out from behind the tree and strode up to the men, who were quite busy doing... Something. They were hunkered down by a building, obviously doing something they weren't supposed to. A poster - one of the many he'd seen around the town of that long-eared guy, had been scribbled on with a black marker and some red paint. A hot thread of anger ran through his chest at the mocking "HA! HA! HA!'s" that were scrawled in the background. Jokerz or not, he decided he didn't like these guys. Not one bit.

Fshiiiiiiiing! The bladed weapon sang through the air before planting itself in the wall between the two men's heads. Immediately, they spun around, not liking that they'd been interrupted. Batman, standing ready to fight with another baterang in his hand, flashed a wide grin at them. "Hello kids. Can I play?"

Not answering, the two masked men pulled out their guns and started shooting. The Joker had said some crazy man in a black suit might show up, and if so, to have a little fun. 'And oh, don't worry,' he had said, 'Batty-Man won't go down without a fight. So play around a little bit!'

Terry's eyes widened and he immediately launched into the air, boot-jets kicking in as he spread his wings. Okay, sure, it was probably not smart to just step out into the open like that, but he hadn't expected guns. Albeit they were older looking, but guns all the same. He just hoped that they wouldn't spot Zoe.

"I see how it is! Not even going to let me try and join in on the fun, are you?" Terry called out as he turned in the air, swaying to throw their aim, rocketing right towards them.

"Naw," one of the men said, voice muffled by the rubber mask, "We're the only ones allowed ta have th'fun." He might have said more, but Terry had dove towards the ground, leveling out just in time to full-body tackle him. With a surprised 'oof!' he was thrown to the ground as Terry pushed off his chest with his hands, flipping in the air so he landed on his feet. He took a moment to look at the other guy and give a 'come 'n get me' motion with his hands.

Surprised that the red-crested man in black could FLY, the other clown had faltered and was trying to regain his composure. Unfortunately for him, that left time for Terry to throw another baterang, removing the man from his gun.

Smiling in a satisfied way, Terry walked past the guy he'd just knocked out and towards the still-standing clown, who despite the happy grin on the rubber face, was looking absolutely upset.

What Terry failed to notice was the third man at the scene. He was busy sneaking up on the young child hiding behind the tree. It was obvious he'd get wailed on if he tried to fight the Batman, but the child? Now there was some leverage.

((OMG FIGHTZ. :O))

Though she'd been in a relatively decent mood, the appearance of what appeared to be Jokerz nearby was certainly not what she'd been in any way expecting. When they attacked, she'd followed her training. When out of costume, stay out of harm's way unless you absolutely needed to. Not that she was ever one for listening to that, but when a big man suddenly grabbed her from behind, using both arms to wrap around the tiny Chinese girl to pin her firmly, she shrieked, loud enough to nearly get her released outright.

"Hey!" the man snapped, struggling to hold on to the violently squirming child. "Settle down afore I pop your head off...!"

Which didn't earn him anything more than a strong set of teeth chomping down hard on his arm. Letting out a startled cry, he released the girl, who was quick to set her hands against the ground and kick him right in the stomach, using her hands for balance. She thought she had him out of the way, but as she tried to run again, the large man got ahold of her arm, twisting hard enough to cause her to shout again. Times like this she really wished she had her Robin suit.

But a girl who had spent several years living on the street had more than one trick up her sleeves. She jammed her heel into the top of his foot. "Leggo!"

((POST AFORE BED. Acos I am BUSY TOMORROW AHH))

"Now, how about you tell me what you guys were messing with, and maybe I'll let ya go," Terry said to the clown who had managed to stay on his feet. He was holding his hand gingerly - getting that gun knocked out of his hand had hurt. It was obvious this guy wasn't very keen on any hand-to-hand combat... Or any REAL fighting at all.

However, he wasn't stupid. He'd much rather cross this guy than the Joker. "How about ya get outta here before my buddy pops you in the back?" Lackey number two was starting to recover from being tackled.

Terry narrowed his eyes and dropped into a more ready position to do some fighting, "How about no?" That said, he immediately did a flip backwards, caught the unsuspecting man who was still trying to get onto his feet by the head with his own boots, and using his momentum, Terry flung the man through the air, where he collided heavily with a tree. This time, he wasn't getting up for a while.

However, he nearly missed his landing when Zoe let out a sharp scream. It made the audios built into the suit momentarily put an edge of static onto everything, but that wasn't what Terry was paying attention to. Only minutes after they'd left Bruce, he'd let his Robin get into trouble. "Slaaaaaaag it," He muttered, turning to glare at the clown he shouldn't have taunted in the first place. "I'll be back for you, sunshine." Throwing him a threatening point with his finger, Terry then raced to where Zoe was, pleased to see that she had thus far managed to remain unharmed, and was doing quite well at avoiding complete capture.

Nevertheless, he didn't want to take any chances. "Hi," He said brightly before bringing back a fist and solidly connecting it with the third clown's face. A sickening 'CRACK!' broke the still air, and the man released Zoe, suddenly unsure whether to clutch at his face, or grab his foot. He tried both, and ended up on his back, howling in pain as blood seeped out from behind his mask. Broken noses, after all, hurt like slag.

"You alright, Squirt?" Batman asked, and nearly ended up dead. Had he not moved a moment earlier, the bullet that had been fired would have done more than just barely whizz by his head.

"C'mon out, Batty boy!" the remaining clown said, swinging his gun wildly in his uninjured hand. "You too scared now? Hidin' behind trees?" It seemed he'd found his courage.

Terry, however, grinned down at Zoe (sure to be behind the shelter of the wide tree) and threw a thumb in the lackey's direction, "Think I can take this one too?"

((HAW. I hope this makes sense. YAY FOR GOING TO BED AFTER THREE HAHAHAHAHAHA *cackles nad runs off*))

Though Zoe had been doing quite a good job holding her own against the dirty old man that had grabbed her, she was well aware that without any other way of defending herself, she was way out of her element. That didn't stop her, however, from scowling nastily up at Terry when he punked in on her bad guy, sticking her tongue out at him as she wrinkled up her little nose. "I was doing just fine, thank you!" she shot before mumbling, "Could've handled him all by myself..."

She did, however, take a glance over, letting her irritation slide when she took a look at the Joker trying to call them out. "Hmph," she huffed. "If you can't, I'll tell Bruce you're losing your touch!"

Quite a threat, and one the little girl was quite willing to follow up on. No one ever said that Zoe Hu was a child that played by any rules. She was a rule-breaker by nature, and got in frequent fights at school. If it wasn't for the fact that she was a ward of Bruce Wayne and the fights she'd been caught in had been started by someone else picking on her, she probably would've been thrown out already.

"So?" she queried, folding her arms to look up at the Tomorrow Knight with a completely blase look on her face. "You gonna take that guy or are you gonna make me do it for you?"

((OKAY. Before I fall asleep. XDDD))

"I'm sure you could have handled him... We both know when you bite, you mean serious business." He ruffled the girl's hair before cautiously pushing her back against the tree. No need to get her into the line of fire. "And don't think for a moment that just 'cause I have an extra little sister that I've gone soft. You know me better than that, Zoe," And with that, he flashed a grin, spread his wings, and took to the rosy sky.

The moment he was back in the sights of the remaining man, more gunfire prevailed. He must have had some sort of semi-automatic weapon, because they came flying full and fast at Terry, but he didn't flinch for a moment. Gunfire was something he was used to. Setting his face into a scowl, Terry dove towards his assailant, arms outstretched in front of him. A few moments before he would have hit, he shot out two blades, one from each little compartment that housed them in the arms of his suit. fshiiiiing! fshiiing! they hit true, and with a pained grunt, the man was removed (yet again) from his gun.

He didn't have time to think about that though, because Terry full-on tackled him, sending them both rolling across the ground for a moment, before The Dark Knight's protégé sprung back onto his feet a few steps away from the masked man. Not wasting another moment, he quickly pulled him up by the front of his shirt and delivered a solid punch to his gut, rendering the man unconscious.

Before he even let Zoe come out from behind that tree, Terry made sure to tie the three men up, binding them to a rather uncomfortable looking tree trunk. For the time being, they were either unconscious, or chose to act like they were. The young vigilante didn't care either way. "Tah dah," he said with a note of cockiness in his voice. "That takes care of that... You alright there, squirt?" He inquired of the young Chinese girl, motioning for her to come out of hiding.

Terry REALLY would have liked to contact Mr. Wayne about this one... Goons dressed up as some sort of primitive Jokerz gang members, doing SOMETHING to the nearby building... "Woah, okay, totally not schway." Mad Stan might have peed his pants at the variety of explosives that had been set at the Supply Shop's base. "What were you guys up to?" He asked, looking over at the men. He didn't much expect an answer.

The masked teen DID, however, motion for Zoe to come to his side. They needed to talk this one over, and figure out what they should do. Because in Terry's experience, where there was smoke, there was fire. It was more likely than not this wasn't the only place that was being set up like this. The problem was, he didn't know who or why. Unfortunately, Bruce usually got to that point before he did. "We may have a bigger problem on our hands than a few busted communicators..."

Whether she liked it or not, Zoe knew Terry was right. It was a smarter idea to stay out of the way until the danger passed. And so the tiny Chinese girl, face scrunched up in frustration at her inability to help, hid behind the tree and watched as Terry thoroughly thrashed the Jokerz. Now, being the tender age of eleven did have its advantages. She, as did many little girls at her school, had a pretty typical little girl crush on the Bat... and his skill did magnify that at times.

Then she just had to remind herself that the Batman was actually Terry McGinnis, who she'd pretty much accepted as a big brother, and he was a total dork... and the illusion was shattered. Making a face, she gave her head a quick shake and returned her eyes to the action. Once all that was done and he inquired as to her state of well-being, she huffed as she stepped out, hands on her hips and cheeks puffed up. "Of course I'm okay," she stated bluntly, tone indignant. "And don't call me squirt!"

She approached as he examined the building, stopping at his side when he motioned for her. "Bun tyen-shung duh ee-dway-ro..." she hissed at the Jokerz, then gazed up at Terry with a tight little frown. "These guys are way too low-tech to be Jokerz, Batman. Did you notice that? No gadgets, no gizmos... and they're only wearing masks. Nothing else. That's really... not like the Jokerz. Could it be someone else doing this...?"

"I will call you whatever I want, SQUIRT." Terry replied, relieved that she was indeed okay. There was only so much he could do about rogue bullets, and thankfully, none had made their way to Zoe. The little girl quickly complied to his request, and made her way over to where he was standing, muttering something in Chinese. The Batman frowned at her frown, "Do I WANT to know what you just said?" he paused, "And you're right... They're grown men too. Last I checked, criminals grow out of being Jokerz by the time they graduate. Take off the makeup and go for something even more stupid."

Terry put a hand on the back of his neck and sighed, trying to figure all of this out. They needed to figure out something to do with all of these explosives, and like Zoe, he was pretty sure these weren't Jokerz, though they reeked of the sort of guys who would hang out with the wrong type. "Slag it, where's that old fart when ya need him?"

"I may be a few hundred years old, but I stand by the belief that you're only as old as you feel!" came another voice, one that belonged to a chipper looking fellow in a long coat, pinstripe suit, and red chucks. With him was a teenaged girl with blonde hair and an astute pair of eyes. "So with that in mind-- Oh hello." The Doctor had nearly tripped over one of the men's legs, and did a little hop-skip to the side to avoid doing so. The man, of course, didn't care, because he was still knocked out cold. The Doctor didn't seem a bit phased by such circumstances.

Terry, though, was a bit more thrown. "Uhh..." He looked down at Zoe, a questioning look on his masked face, before looking back at the Doctor. "Mind dropping a name for me?"

"Of course! Call me the Doctor. This lovely young woman here is Penny. And I'm not sure what happened to these guys - weeeell, I'm pretty sure I can guess, and ah, that'd be the reason." He pointed to the rigged explosives on the building. "Seems you avoided anything too heinous happening. Good, good. Now, to business..."

Terry couldn't help but swallow a bit of a snigger and bend down to whisper to Zoe, "This guy likes hearing himself talk more than Bruce does."

"....And because of that, we're looking to finally find out what's going on here, and that can be done far better if we can have communication throughout the city. I'd run into an elderly fellow with a dog earlier, and he mentioned that he was looking for his young ward, and both he and his charge had very interesting little communicators that needed some fixing. Penny and I here are searching the city for people such as these. You wouldn't happen to know any of them, my masked friend, would you?" He paused, then gave a bright smile to Zoe, "<Or you, perhaps? That's an adorable dress as well, my dear.>" He had randomly switched to Chinese.

Terry narrowed his eyes and folded his arms across his chest. The man seemed harmless, if not a bit chatty, but he wasn't sure. This Doctor said that he had run into Bruce (who else would that have been?), but he wasn't sure...

((*crappy rushed postage - hiya*))

A petrified look to her features, Penny had gathered what information she could on the fight and stood back. Her heart had nearly leaped from her chest at the constant carnage in her mind - far different from her uncle and Brain dealing with the MAD agents, she was sure of that. However, staying close to the doctor and clutching to her all-important satchel, Penny had readied for any stray fists from the fight.

Still, even in a state of absolute shock at the fight and pity for the fallen, the girl could not help but giggle at the Doctor's misstep. After all, he was a most humorous character although his slap-stick was no match to the Inspector's. Yet, her humor ended as she noticed they were heading toward the man dressed in black - weren't villains the only ones who dressed in black? Was the world truly not black and white as hers was? She would need to adjust her mindset.

Observing carefully the interactions, Penny simply straightened and smiled toward the black-clad gentleman as she was introduced by her peculiar companion. She waved nervously toward him and his young friend. "Hello, there," she added in the friendliest manner she could manage.

Nodding to the Doctor's monologue on the communicators, Penny stepped forward and revealed the hidden book in her messenger bag. Opening the book carefully, and a bit allusively at that, to its mainframe page, she began to continue what the Doctor had started. "You see, using my mainframe and watch-com as a relaying tower, if you will, we are attempting to connect all communication devices within this city," she began with the simple. "The Doctor has genius devised a way to link all communication this way and by doing so we can obtain knowledge. And if we have more knowledge of this city and its secrets then we will have more knowledge on how to restore order here."

Looking around to the sprawled bodies, Penny frowned slightly. "It all seems a bit chaotic just now. . ."

The black-haired Chinese girl was quite ready to kick Terry hard in the shin again when a new figure presented itself, and almost shyly, she ducked behind the Tomorrow Knight, a little frown marring her rounded baby face as she gripped his arm and looked back and forth between the man in the dorky outfit and the girl with the blond hair. She just about gave a witty retort when the dorkily dressed gentleman began speaking to her in Chinese, which caused her to stand up straight and blink those wide, almond-shaped brown eyes.

"Xièxiè..." she murmured, shuffling her feet. "Wǒ xìng Zoe Hu... Wǒ hěn gāoxìng gěn nǐ jiànmiàn..."

Which was the extent of what she had to say, just sort of tucking herself further behind Terry. Now she couldn't curse in Chinese, with someone else there that could speak it fluently! Curses! Foiled! But she really didn't seem to have much else to say. While not normally a shy child, when she was stuck without her costume, she felt a little vulnerable, and Terry was the strongest person she knew in the vicinity. Best to go with what she knew the best.

OKay, so there was something to be said about what this guy knew. It seemed this was the Doctor of sorts that Bruce had told him to look for... Now it just was a matter of getting him to stop talking. And for that matter, stop switching languages. How the heck was he fluent in CHINESE anyway? Terry supposed that with all the other weirdness that was going on here, it shouldn't be that big a surprise... But still. He really didn't like NOT being in the know on matters such as this.

"<And I'm just as pleased to meet you, Miss Zoe!>" The Doctor chirped, offering a brilliant smile to the shy girl.

Terry frowned and put a hand to his side - a protective movement for his 'little sister.' This quirky man might seem nice, but then again, the Jokerz had been known to give flowers. Right before they blew up in your face. "Okay, so you're hooking up any communication you can find? That sounds like a good enough idea... But from what I've seen, technology's all over the place here. We've got some pretty complicated stuff... But some of it's no better than one of those old fashioned radios they had in the 1980's..." Because to Terry, that WAS a long time ago.

"Oh, no need to worry about that. I know my way around that sort of thing, you see," the Doctor said, waving a dismissive hand. "In any case, if I could have your comm devices...?" He held out an expectant hand.

"Yeah, uh no." Terry frowned deeply, pointing a gloved finger at the Doctor and Penny. "Do you really think I'd trust some random guy that comes up and wants my technology?" He didn't mention that yeah, it wasn't working... And that Bruce had said to look for the guy...

"Actually, yes. That would be the easiest route, wouldn't you say Penny?" Came the reply.
